Marlo Brooke and Robert Taylor of U.S. Coast Guard address VR/AR Global Summit on Improving Readiness and Operational Effectiveness with AR/MR

Huntington Beach, CA May 30, 2020 – Marlo Brooke with Robert Taylor will be addressing the VR/AR Global Summit on June 1, 2020 at 1:30pm Pacific time. For more information and to register go to: VRAR Global Summit.

The US Coast Guard's (USCG) mission is to ensure maritime safety, security and stewardship. Their 87 ft Marine Protector Class Patrol Boat is a multi-mission class vessel for search and rescue, law enforcement, fishery patrols, drug interdiction, illegal immigrant interdiction and homeland security. To Reduce Labor Burden and Increase Asset Availability of this important Asset, AVATAR Partners developed an Augmented Reality Maintenance Aid (ARMA) using AR/MR simulation and USCG expertise. The use case involved a Complex Engine Maintenance procedure that normally requires the boat to dock and fly in a senior technician for repair. Initial testing proved a novice technician no prior experience with the equipment to complete parts of the complex maintenance procedure successfully. To fulfill the USCG requirement, ARMA provides Maintenance Training on the equipment (Real Environment) or without (Open Space/Virtual), and On-the-Job Step-By-Step Guidance. This presentation will share Challenges Overcome, Lessons Learned and the Path Forward.
